Behind the Scenes of the 2018 Lyon Festival of Lights - The 28th Overseas Lighting Tour

The Journey of Light, Never Resting. Unbeknownst to us, the "2018 European Festival of Lights Preview - The 28th Overseas Lighting Tour," organized by AALD and hosted by Yangguang Media, has come to a close. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the Lyon Festival of Lights, on December 10th,2019, the delegation of this overseas tour met with the management department of the Lyon Festival of Lights for discussions and exchanges. Mr. Yang Yun, Director of the Lighting Department of Shanghai Modern Architectural Decoration Environmental Design Institute Co., Ltd., and representative of AALD, chaired the meeting. Representatives from the Lyon Festival of Lights, Mr. Gilles Flouret and Mr. Guillaume Arnould, as well as Mr. Mark Burton Page, representative of Lighting Urban Community International (LUCI), participated in the meeting.


During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the overview, organization and influence of the Lyon Festival of Lights, artwork collection, and future cooperation. The management department of the Lyon Festival of Lights introduced the overview of the festival and the selection of artworks to the participants. In the future, AALD will continue to maintain a friendly cooperative relationship with the management department of the Lyon Festival of Lights and LUCI. During the meeting, both parties discussed how to promote and deepen cooperation. Some representatives of the delegation expressed their hopes for future cooperation in fostering the growth of industry designers and promoting the mutual introduction of international and domestic artworks. The management department of the Lyon Festival of Lights expressed an open-minded attitude towards the introduction of artworks, emphasizing the originality, innovation, and implementability of the artworks rather than specific themes.


After the meeting, the overseas delegation took a group photo with the representatives of the Lyon Festival of Lights, marking the successful conclusion of the 10-day 28th Overseas Lighting Tour.
