Recently, the 3rd AIGC Lighting Design Workshop and the 144th Asian Lighting Designers Salon were successfully held in Beijing. This event was organized by the Asian Association of Lighting Designers (AALD), with the co-sponsorship of Doo Technologies International Lighting Design (Beijing) Center Co., Ltd., Beijing Tongheng Hemin Optoelectronics Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Beijing Lanjing Technology Co., Ltd. Empowering AI and illuminating the future of design is our unwavering goal.

 

Event Overview

 

From July 28th to 29th, 2024, the 3rd AIGC Lighting Design Workshop and the 144th Asian Lighting Designers Salon were successfully held at the Deep Blue Space in the 798 Art Center in Beijing, attracting more than 20 top designers from leading lighting companies in the North China region.

In this workshop, through the teaching of cutting-edge AI tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion, participants not only gained insights into the future trends of AI lighting design but also practiced efficient design processes. From theory to hands-on practice, it helped designers quickly grasp the essence of AI-assisted design, comprehensively enhancing their digital intelligence design capabilities and achieving a deep integration of innovation and technology.

With the rapid development of AI technology, the lighting design industry is undergoing profound changes. Mastering cutting-edge AI tools, optimizing workflow, improving design efficiency and quality, and creating more innovative and competitive lighting design works are urgent learning goals for lighting designers. Mr. Xu Dongliang, executive director of AALD and the leading designer of Doo Technologies International Lighting Design (Beijing) Center Co., Ltd., attended the event and spoke on behalf of the organization.

The highlights of this workshop's professional lectures lie in their cutting-edge nature, practicality, and comprehensiveness. The course delves into how AI technology is leading the transformation in lighting design, with detailed instruction on three cutting-edge AI tools enabling participants to master the latest technological applications. Additionally, the practical sessions are rich, ranging from basic operations to advanced techniques, allowing students to experience firsthand the practical application of AI tools in lighting design. Moreover, the course emphasizes comprehensive application, with interconnected teaching of the three major AI tools, helping students to form a complete design workflow, which strongly supports innovative design for lighting designers.

In addition to learning, the participants also had a focused visit to the light and shadow immersion area and the xR virtual production laboratory at Deep Blue Space, where they engaged in in-depth technical discussions about the operational challenges and application scenarios of immersive interactive spaces with light and shadow. The atmosphere on-site was enthusiastic, bringing together collisions and exchanges of professional lighting ideas.

At the end of the event, Mr. Xu Dongliang, executive director of AALD, and Mr. Ma Bin, secretary-general, presented the participants with completion certificates. Reflecting on the successful workshop, Mr. Ma Bin expressed, "After the exploration of the workshops in Guangzhou and Shanghai, we have not stopped our pace and will continue to write new chapters of AIGC in cities like Chengdu.
