The 11th Wisdom Sharing Meeting (Shanghai Station) was complete finished
Overview of the Event
On July 28th, the highly anticipated 11th AALD Wisdom Sharing Meeting was successfully held at the Shanghai World Expo Park. This smart sharingevent was hosted by AALD, organized by Yangguang Media, and supported by Liye Optoelectronics. The conference, with the core theme of "Rearranging Light and Shadow · Rational Rebirth", attracted many professionals from the lighting industry to gather together and jointly explore the rational development path of urban night light and shadow economy from multiple perspectives.
Mr. Chang Xiaojie
At the meeting, Chang Xiaojie, the chairman of Suzhou Lighting, shared his insights on the "DOS and don 'ts" in urban lighting. He mentioned that urban lighting should be based on practical value, pay attention to the quality of the light environment and long-term management, and on the basis of meeting functional requirements, rationally integrate traditional and modern elements with lighting as the carrier, scientifically plan and construct, and achieve sustainable development. For many years, Suzhou Lighting has adhered to moderate construction and attached great importance to maintenance. The lighting of the ancient city streets and moat is combined with Jiangnan culture, and the industrial parks, high-speed railway new towns and other places moderately reflect the modern urban style. These are all practical directions that objectively reflect the development level of the city and meet the needs of the general public. He emphasized that the healthy development of the industry requires government guidance and the collaboration of multiple parties. By leveraging collective efforts, we should focus on the functional essence of urban lighting, adhere to the bottom line of rational development through innovation, and ensure that lighting truly serves the needs of people's livelihood development and regional cultural inheritance.
Case sharing of the Asian Photography Award
This smart sharing session takes outstanding cases from the Asian Lighting Design Award that meet standards such as energy conservation and low carbon, functional compatibility, and cultural integration as the starting point, and builds a cross-subject dialogue platform. At the meeting, Yang Yun, the Shanghai coordinator and senior member of AALD and the director of the Lighting Institute of Huajian Group's Environmental Research Institute, and Zhang Yi, a senior member of AALD and the director of the Lighting Center of Huajian Group's Shanghai Research Institute, successively took the stage to share the winning projects of the 2025 Asian Lighting Design Award with the participants.
Mr. Yang Yun
Yang Yun shared the design concept of "Eliminating redundancy and emphasizing essence" under the theme of "Handling Heavy Tasks with Ease - Landscape Lighting Design for Expo Cultural Park" The lighting design of the Expo Cultural Park rejects the pitfalls of piling up equipment, showing off technology and dazzling effects. Instead, it achieves scene innovation, experience optimization and value enhancement through ingenious methods, creating a unique cultural atmosphere while meeting functional requirements. This practice provides a model of "ingenuity within restraint" for urban landscape lighting, highlighting the industry's rational orientation of returning from "formalism" to "humanistic and functional essence".
Ms. Zhang Yi
Zhang Yi shared the practical achievements of Shanghai Institute in the field of urban renewal, with a focus on analyzing the "Urban Light and Shadow Art Interpretation Project of Twin Chimneys in Chongqing Art Park". This project, with light and shadow art as the bond, has successfully injected new vitality into old industrial sites such as Chongqing Power Plant. It not only preserves industrial memories but also organically connects with contemporary urban life, providing a practical model of "light and shadow translation" for the revitalization and utilization of industrial relics.
Interactive discussion
During the interactive discussion session, representatives from units such as Zhongtian Lighting, Liye Optoelectronics, IGE STUDIO, Aodebao Group, Traxon e:cue, and iGuzzini conducted in-depth discussions on the "what should and shouldn't" of urban lighting.
Mr. Xu Jin (left), chairman of Shanghai Zhongtian Lighting Complete Set Co., LTD.
Mr. Luca Tarsetti (center), Director of iGuzzini Asia Pacific
Mr. Zhang Wei (right), the sales director of iGuzzini in China
Regarding the issue of how to balance "cultural expression" and "energy-saving constraints" in light and shadow projects during urban renewal, the guests believe that lightweight light and shadow designs, such as local key lighting and interactive energy-saving devices, should be adopted to replace large-scale lighting. This way, while controlling energy consumption, the cultural memory of the city can be conveyed, avoiding excessive investment in "culture and tourism for the sake of culture and tourism".
Ms.Wang Liping, the chairperson and founder of Liye Optoelectronics
Mr. Ma Renkai, Senior Member of AALD and founder/Design Director of IGE STUDIO
Mr. Jiang Keqiang General Manager of Lighting Brand Sales for ZUMTOBEL Group in China
Mr. Ji Jing, the sales director of Traxon e:cue in China
Regarding how to bring light and shadow projects back to their functional essence through standard collaboration and avoid "image projects", the participants discussed the matching degree between the existing urban lighting special planning and the actual needs of the projects. They emphasized that lighting manufacturers, design parties, and project owners should jointly formulate technical standards that meet the requirements of "living frugality" in the early stage of the project and be constrained by the standards in the project approval process. Eliminate extravagant construction from the source.
Representatives of Liye Optoelectronics: Mr. Chu Wanguo (left), Mr. Han Yong (middle),Mr. Wang Xin (right)
In the rectification of high-energy-consuming projects, regarding the issue of how to balance technology, design and cost, everyone shared the replacement plans for high-energy-consuming lamps in existing and under-construction projects, as well as the optimization paths of design plans during the rectification process, and weighed the short-term contradictions and long-term benefits between operation and maintenance costs and energy-saving investment.
Ms. Zhu Yuerong, Assistant Secretary-General of AALD
Mr. Ma Bin
Ma Bin, the secretary-general of AALD, delivered a keynote speech titled "20 Years of Light and Shadow Cultivation, Embarking on a Rational Rebirth with the Industry" at the meeting. He believes that this meeting is like a warm gathering of industry elites, allowing everyone to have in-depth exchanges. On the spot, everyone speaks freely and shares their insights on the industry. He firmly believes that in the future, through mutually empowering and mutually beneficial cooperation, they will surely gather strength, weather the economic winter together, and usher in a brilliant spring for the lighting industry.
Mr. Xu Jin
Xu Jin, the chairman of Shanghai Zhongtian Lighting Complete Set Co., LTD., emphasized in the event summary that the rational development of urban lighting requires the establishment of a multi-subject collaborative and interactive mechanism - managers, designers, engineering parties, manufacturers and other parties should break down barriers, empower and coexist, and unite forces through consensus and integrate resources through collaboration Jointly promote the transformation of the industry from "extensive expansion" to "refined in-depth cultivation", and enable the practice of light and shadow to truly serve the high-quality development of cities and the essential needs of people's livelihood.
This meeting successfully established a cross-subject dialogue platform. Taking outstanding cases as the starting point, it deeply explored the collaborative mechanism, practical challenges and future directions in urban lighting governance, injecting new ideas into the return of urban lighting to rationality, serving the people's livelihood and achieving high-quality development.
