"Light Illuminates the Future · The 22nd Asian Lighting Art Forum" Successfully Concludes at Chongqing University

 

 

At the forum

On the morning of April 24, 2026, the 22nd Asian Lighting Art Forum, themed "Light Illuminates the Future," was successfully held at Chongqing University. The forum was jointly organized by the Asian Association of Lighting Designers (AALD) and the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University, with co-organization by the Architectural Technology Branch of the Chongqing Civil Engineering and Architecture Society, the Chongqing Illumination Engineering Society, and the Sichuan Lighting Appliance Association. The forum focused on the cross-border integration of architecture, lighting, art, and technology, with nine experts sharing insights on topics such as the expression of light and shadow in architectural design, urban lighting planning, and the creation of digital spaces.

Professor Weng Ji, Vice Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University, delivered the opening speech, extending a warm welcome to the guests.

Wu Tao, Director of the Chongqing Urban Lighting Center, also gave a speech.

Professor Yan Yonghong, President of AALD and a faculty member at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University, delivered a speech as well.

 

Forum Moderators: Rong Haolei, Shen Wei

During the presentation session, Professor Chu Dongzhu, Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University, delivered a speech titled "Learning from Nature: Architecture Returns to Time," delving into the ingenious application and philosophical contemplation of natural light in architectural design. Professor Yan Yonghong presented a speech on "From Design Practice to Scientific Inquiry: Refining Pathways and Feedback from Achievements." Other renowned experts, including Qi Bin, Executive Director of AALD and Chief Architect of the Architectural Design and Research Institute at Tsinghua University; Professor Chang Zhigang, Executive Director of AALD and a faculty member at the School of Architecture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts; Xu Dongliang, Executive Director of AALD and Principal Designer at Dongliang International Lighting Design Center; Shen Shaomin, a contemporary artist, documentary filmmaker, poet, and Director of the Public Art Institute at the Benyuan Design Research Center at Shenzhen University; and Ma Bin, Secretary-General of AALD, also delivered captivating speeches. The forum was co-hosted by Rong Haolei, Executive Director of AALD and President of the Beijing Tongheng Heming Optoelectronic Research Institute, and Shen Wei, Senior Member of AALD and President of the Zhejiang Lighting Appliance Association.

In the interactive Q&A and certificate awarding session, participants raised questions on current hot topics, and the speakers provided professional answers. At the end of the forum, President Yan Yonghong presented commemorative certificates to each of the speakers.
