Asian Lighting Design Awards

The jury meeting for the 11th Asia Lighting Design Awards 2026 was successfully convened.

 

On April 24th, the highly anticipated jury meeting for the 11th Asia Lighting Design Awards 2026 was successfully held at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University. Hosted by the Asian Association of Lighting Designers (AALD), the event aimed to recognize projects that have achieved remarkable accomplishments in the field of lighting design and to drive the industry towards a low-carbon and intelligent future.

 

Jury Meeting Venue

 

The jury meeting brought together authoritative experts from various regions, including Professor/Doctoral Supervisor Yan Yonghong, President of AALD and a faculty member at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University; Qi Bin, Executive Director of AALD and Chief Architect at the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University; Shen Shaomin, a contemporary artist, documentary filmmaker, poet, and Director of the Public Art Research Institute at the Benyuan Design Research Center, Shenzhen University; Rong Haolei, Executive Director of AALD and President of the Beijing Tongheng Heming Optoelectronic Research Institute; Xu Dongliang, Executive Director of AALD and Principal Designer at Dongliang International Lighting Design Center; Chang Zhigang, Executive Director of AALD and Professor at the School of Architecture, Central Academy of Fine Arts; and Shen Wei, Senior Member of AALD and President of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Appliance Association.

As the Chair of the Jury Committee, Professor Yan Yonghong stated in her opening remarks, "The core mission of this jury meeting is to systematically evaluate the annual entries from a professional perspective. We firmly believe that, relying on the profound academic expertise and forward-looking industry insights of our jury members, we will be able to select exemplary works."

 

The jury meeting adhered to a rigorous evaluation process, starting with online expert reviews and AI system evaluations, followed by on-site group discussions among experts, chairperson reconsideration, and culminating in a final on-site joint deliberation and award determination. The evaluation criteria focused on three core dimensions: artistry, technology, and social value, comprehensively assessing the overall performance of lighting projects in terms of light and shadow storytelling, technological innovation, energy efficiency, environmental protection, and social contributions.

 

Jury Experts

 

The application process for this year's Asia Lighting Design Awards spanned three months, receiving over a hundred high-quality entries from across Asia. These projects covered various fields, including architectural lighting, interior spaces, cultural tourism lighting, and light and shadow art. Additionally, a special award—the AIGC Lighting Innovation Design Award—was introduced this year.

With the successful conclusion of the jury meeting, the list of winners for the 11th Asia Lighting Design Awards 2026 will be announced soon, and the award ceremony will be held grandly on June 8th during the "Night of Lights" event. We anticipate that these outstanding projects will shine brightly in the future and set benchmarks for the development of the lighting industry.
