"Speech Illuminates Lighting Charm, AI Creates the Future" - The 150th AALD Salon Held at Jinjiang College, Sichuan University

 

 

 

On December 15, 2025, the 150th Asian Association of Lighting Designers (AALD) Salon IP520 (Chengdu Session) was successfully held at Jinjiang College, Sichuan University, attracting a large gathering of faculty and students from various universities, industry designers, and corporate representatives. The event was jointly organized by Jinjiang College, Sichuan University, CMC Inc., and AALD, hosted by Yangguang Media, and received strong support from partners Grand Canyon and Lightme, as well as technical support from Zhongzhao Jinzhi.

Professors from Jinjiang College, Sichuan University, including Hu Shaozhong (Dean of the School of Art), Wang Shaowen (Vice Dean of the School of Art), Liu Youda (Teaching Supervisor of the School of Art), Long Guoyue (Director and Academic Leader of the Environmental Design Program), Xiang Yong (Deputy Director of the Environmental Design Program), and Wang Feng (Deputy Director of the Teaching and Research Section of the Environmental Design Program), attended the event.

The event was co-hosted by Ma Bin, Secretary-General of AALD, and Yang Guang, Senior Member of AALD/Chengdu Coordinator and Director of the Lighting Division at CMC Inc. (Chengdu) Building Technology Co., Ltd. During the meeting, Mr. Yang Guang pointed out, "The essence of lighting design lies in insight and expression of space, humanity, and emotions. The theme of this event, 'Speech Illuminates Lighting Charm, AI Creates the Future,' encourages everyone to embrace AI, enhance eloquence and literacy, and respond to industry changes with confidence and professionalism."

The salon closely adhered to the training objectives of "technology + creativity + expression," focusing on the essential needs of student growth. In the IP520 "5-minute + 20-slide PPT" practical speech segment, four student teams and industry guests took the stage in turn, helping students and young designers improve their professional communication skills.

The judges provided professional evaluations for each speaker, offering valuable guidance and suggestions to young designers. After the speeches, teachers from Jinjiang College, Sichuan University, presented honorary certificates to the speakers to encourage young designers and students to continuously explore and delve deeper into the path of "design expression."

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the Launch of AI Lighting Workstation (A-Station) 3.0

 

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the launch of the AI Lighting Workstation (A-Station) 3.0 was the highlight of the event. Mr. Yang Guang, Mr. Ma Bin, Professor Hu Shaozhong, Professor Long Guoyue, and Director Xiang Yong jointly witnessed this significant moment on stage.

At the meeting, Wang Xiao, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Zhongzhao Jinzhi, delivered a keynote speech titled "Let AI Become the Second Language of Designers - Rationality and Warmth." He detailed the application of cutting-edge AIGC tools in lighting design, demonstrating how these tools can enhance design efficiency, broaden creative boundaries, and achieve seamless integration between course practice and industry frontiers.

Zhang Zhongwei, Deputy General Manager of Grand Canyon, and Liu Dan, Deputy General Manager of Lightme, attended the event. During the meeting, Zhang Zhongwei and Liu Xuefu from Lightme respectively shared insights about their brands, while Zhu Yuerong, Assistant to the Secretary-General of AALD, provided a detailed introduction to the Asian Lighting Design Awards.

At the end of the event, Professor Long Guoyue delivered a concluding speech. He pointed out that the successful hosting of this salon was of great significance, not only providing strong support for students at Jinjiang College to consolidate their professional foundations and enhance their comprehensive qualities but also establishing a long-term platform for connecting university talent cultivation with industry needs, injecting fresh vitality into the high-quality development of the lighting design industry.

This IP520 (Chengdu Session) marked the third stop in the AALD series of salon events. In the future, AALD will continue to leverage resources and visit numerous cities and regions, including Shanghai, Jinan, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Fuzhou, using "design expression" as a link to drive industry talent cultivation and technological innovation and upgrading.
