The 149th Asian Lighting Designers Salon IP520, with the theme of "Jishan Jianshui · Lighting a New Chapter," was successfully held in Shaoxing
On the afternoon of December 12, the "Jishan Jianshui · Lighting a New Chapter—Zhejiang Province High-Quality Development Seminar on Smart Lighting and Urban Renewal (Shaoxing Station)" kicked off at the New Century Grand Hotel Meishan Chunxiao in Shaoxing. Experts, scholars, and industry elites from the fields of housing and urban-rural development, science and technology, and lighting in Zhejiang Province gathered in the ancient city to jointly explore the new future of the lighting industry. At the same time, the 149th Asian Lighting Designers Salon IP520 was also held concurrently. This event was jointly organized by AALD, the Lighting Professional Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Investigation and Design Industry Association, the Shaoxing Investigation and Design Industry Association, and the Shaoxing Architectural Society.

At the technical exchange meeting, Zhu Weikai, a senior member of AALD and the Dean of the Light Environment Design Institute of Zhejiang Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., provided an in-depth interpretation of the group standard of the Zhejiang Provincial Investigation and Design Industry Association, "Quality Evaluation Standard for the Light Environment of Urban Nightscape Lighting" (hereinafter referred to as the "Standard"). He pointed out that the background of the formulation of this standard is highly aligned with the development trend of urban landscape lighting. Currently, the industry has transitioned from the basic lighting stage of "scattered lights" to a brand-new development stage that integrates beautification, culture, and artistry. Future urban nightscape lighting work needs to focus on three key areas: first, the integrated application of smart intelligence and low-carbon environmental protection; second, the coordinated implementation of light pollution prevention and ecological protection; and third, the improvement and optimization of project evaluation systems and operation and maintenance mechanisms.

The IP520 Speech Salon is a speech competition platform specifically designed for young designers, aiming to help them optimize their primary design language and enhance their oral expression skills. On the day of the event, five lighting design elites from various regions in Zhejiang took turns to take the stage, injecting fresh ideas into the industry's development with practical cases. This session was hosted by Ms. Zhu Yuerong, the Assistant Secretary-General of AALD.

Chen Li from Wenzhou Design Group, Yu Taiyou from Ningbo Architectural Design and Research Institute, Shen Linyue from Zhejiang Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute, Ge Nan from Huahui Engineering Design Group, and Lu Danyu from the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Zhejiang University delivered wonderful shares in the form of "5-minute speeches + 20 PPT slides," inspiring boundless creativity and inspiration among the on-site audience.

Commentators: Shen Wei, Zeng Xuguang, Pang Xiaoxiao
Shen Wei, a senior member of AALD and the Vice President of Zhejiang Urban Construction Planning and Design Institute, offered professional opinions from the perspective of "feasibility of implementation." He believed that if the designers' plans could further incorporate such new technologies, they would achieve a dual improvement in both "creativity and implementation."
Zeng Xuguang, a senior member of AALD and the Director of the Urban Lighting Planning Institute of the Architectural Landscape Design and Research General Institute of the China Academy of Art, focused on the "emotional value of light and shadow." He suggested that young designers should pay more attention to the "rhythm of light and shadow narration" in their future creations.
Pang Xiaoxiao, the Vice Dean of the Environmental Art Branch of the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Zhejiang University, commented from the perspective of the "symbiotic relationship between architecture and lighting." She affirmed that the ByteDance project achieved seamless integration of technology and art, which is precisely the core logic of "looking beyond lighting when designing lighting" in contemporary lighting design.

Awarding Honorary Certificates
After the speeches, the three commentators presented honorary certificates to the speakers. This honor represents the expectations for the young lighting designers in Zhejiang, hoping that they will take this sharing as a starting point and create more works that combine cultural warmth with technical strength.
What was particularly eye-catching was the AIGC Practical Application Open Class. Chen Huijun, the Architect of Zhongzhao Jinzhi Guangzhi, delivered a themed share titled "Let AI Become the Second Language of Designers—Rationality and Warmth." She demonstrated on-site the operation of using AIGC tools to quickly generate multiple versions of lighting plans and simulate light and shadow effects, which made the designers present exclaim "practical" and raised expectations for technology implementation to a new level. In her view, "AIGC is not about replacing designers but about liberating everyone from repetitive drawing tasks and allowing them to focus on the creative core of 'telling stories with light and shadow.'"

The peak dialogue session pushed the event to a climax. Industry professionals such as Zhu Yuerong, the Assistant Secretary-General of AALD; Zhou Peng, the Technical Director of the Light Environment Design Institute of Zhejiang Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.; and Li Feng, the Deputy Chief Engineer of the Product Research Institute of Huahui Engineering Design Group Co., Ltd., expressed their opinions and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as technology implementation and industry transformation, illuminating the entire venue with sparks of thought collision.

This grand event, centered around light, drew a perfect conclusion amidst the resonance of ideas. The seeds of "technology empowerment" sown at this event are also expected to take root and sprout in the urban renewal of Shaoxing, blooming into a brighter future.
