The 152nd AALD Salon on "New Ecosystem of AI Design Applications" Successfully Held in Chongqing
On April 10, 2026, the 152nd AALD Salon IP520, co-hosted by AALD and the Jintang Award, and jointly organized by the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University and the Architectural Technology Branch of the Chongqing Civil Engineering and Architecture Society, was successfully held at Chongqing University.


With the theme of "New Ecosystem of AI Design Applications," this event brought together experts and scholars from Chongqing University, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Chongqing Technology and Business Institute, and other universities, as well as representatives of outstanding lighting designers and interior designers from Chongqing and its surrounding areas. They engaged in in-depth discussions on how AI technology empowers spatial design innovation and constructs a new ecosystem for design applications.
The event kicked off with speeches by Professor Weng Ji, Associate Dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University, and Professor Yan Yonghong, President of AALD. Professor Weng emphasized the innovative opportunities that AI technology brings to the design industry, stating that "AI is not just a tool but also a significant force driving design innovation." Professor Yan introduced AALD's achievements in promoting the career development of lighting designers and pointed out that the event aimed to establish a high-level platform for lighting designers and interior designers to jointly explore the application of AI technology.

The speech segment of the event continued with AALD's classic IP520 format of "5-minute speeches + 20 PowerPoint slides." Zhu Lidong, AALD's Chongqing Coordinator and Senior Member, Associate Professor at the School of Design at Chongqing Technology and Business Institute; Yang Guang, AALD's Chengdu Coordinator and Senior Member, Director of the Lighting Department at CMC Architects Chengdu; Wang Can, a teacher at Chongqing Finance and Economics College; Guo Yi, Design Director at Guangyuan Yiwei; and Tian Ailing, Founder and Design Director of Twelve Points Decoration, took the stage one after another to share their creative insights and case achievements on topics such as AI technology applications and innovative practices in lighting and interior design. After the speeches, Professor Yan Yonghong presented commemorative certificates to each speaker.

Huang Yan, an AALD Senior Member, Associate Professor, and Director of the Lighting Art Design Teaching and Research Office at the School of Public Art at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, highly praised the works of the speakers. He believed that these works returned to the essence of light and shadow, demonstrating the boundless inspiration and possibilities that technological advancements bring to design, whether in architectural expression or color application. This pursuit of the purity of light and shadow not only made the works more full and three-dimensional but also provided the audience with a more Sprising visual experience.

During the brand sharing segment, Mr. Ma Bin delivered a speech titled "The Future is Here: The Application of AIGC in Lighting," providing in-depth analysis of the application trends of AI generative technology in lighting design and offering valuable industry insights to the attendees.

Subsequently, Zhu Yuerong, Director of the AALD Secretariat, and Dai Wei, Manager of the Jintang Award Chongqing Station, introduced and shared information about the Asian Lighting Design Award and the Jintang Award, respectively, enabling designers to gain a more comprehensive understanding of these two authoritative awards and inspiring their enthusiasm for participating in the selections and pursuing excellence.

In addition, Zhang Qiang, General Manager of the Chongqing Operations Center of NVC Lighting, also took the stage to share the company's latest achievements and strategic plans in the lighting field, fully demonstrating its unremitting pursuit of "changing lives with technological lighting." Yao Honghui, Senior Manager of the Engineering Channel at Huizhou NVC Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., also attended the event.The event also invited representatives from Zhongzhao Jinzhi to share online, providing detailed introductions to practical skills for optimizing design presentations using AIGC tools and offering designers practical tools and methods.During the interactive dialogue session, the attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on two core topics: "the pain points and feasible solutions for the implementation of AI in indoor lighting environment design projects at present" and "the cross-border integration trends and business opportunities of AI + lighting + interior design in the future." The guests shared their views, providing new ideas for the innovative development of the industry.
