Urban Lighting Theme Conference(Light & Buddhism) Concluded Successfully in Urumqi

“Landmark” and “Emotion”is the Key Factor of Designing Unique Urban Lighting
Song YaJun,mayor of Urumqi,said on the 2013 China Urban Lighting Theme Conference on June 27 ,“we will improve urban lighting’s brightness and beauty ,complete the urban landscape lighting construction in high standard and efficiency, so as to make Urumqi a civilized city with beauty.”He also hoped the local staff can learn from and interact with coastal developed region’s professional lighting designers.

Along with the rapid economic development in China these year,urban lighting industry is flourishing , the nightscape in high quality is becoming a unique scenery for city. At the same time, how to make a better urban lighting planning design and improve the quality of urban lighting and promote sustainable development have become a hot topic for government,local administrators and designers.

Landscape lighting engineering project in Urumqi ,starting in the late 1990s, was stagnant because of the development of economy and so on.It went on the track of development under the government’s effort after the China Expo was held in Urumqi in 2011.However, urban lighting in Urumqi also met the same problems in its advancement. Therefore,China Illuminating Engineering Society, organizing committee of Urban lighting Construction Award and AALD organized this conference ,inviting Dou Linping General Secretary of CIES,and Ma Bin general secretary of AALD to be host. The leader of Urumqi, Mu Bingjie,Secretary of Urumqi Municipal Committee of the CPC,Zhang Long ,deputy General Secretary ,Song Yangjun ,vice mayor of Urumqi and ,deputy General Secretary Mulati.Muziboer and guests experienced the nightscape by their own which make the guests had a deeper understanding on Urumqi’s city lighting.

Zhang Zhilie,deputy Director of Enforcement Bureau of Urumqi municipal commission of city administration ,pointed out the problem existing in city lighting ,adding that although Urumqi has made some achievements in city lighting construction,there still a long way to go compared with coastal developed region.Since the overall lighting design level is not high and it also faces some problems such as only can choose product according to the local environment,scale control during the development process and the unique visual art of nightscape.

At present, the urumqi has formed a complete lighting landscape structure, and a series of typical nightscape zone sprang up incredibly.The overall lighting planning completed by Lighting Design and Research Department of Tsinghua Tong Heng Urban Planning and Design Institute not only made city lighting scale under control, but also provided scientific theoretical basis and support for its development.More over, Zhongtian Square’s lighting also became a unique symbol of city night scene,which highlights the character of the city.
At the same time,he stated that in the future,we pledge to ramp up efforts to set up special plans for urban lighting construction,establish and improve a sound legal urban lighting system,talent storage and explore a new way for energy saving and emission reduction base on the overall city planning.
Zheng Jianwei,director of BIAD Zheng Jianwei Lighting Design Stiduo and chief designer of Zhongtian Square landmark ,pointed out that it was a trend to regard landmark as a city’s symbol,describing how to form a unique lighting in landmark architecture profoundly . Rong Haolei, director of Lighting Design and Research Department ,Tsinghua Tong Heng Urban Planning and Design Institute, from the perspective of urban lighting planning, put forward the view of humanism urban lighting, urban lighting should be able to arouse the citizens emotion, and aesthetic form and emotion original was of the same important.
Changing from dark to bright, from the pursuit of visual stimulation to cultural creativity, the requirements for urban lighting was increasing.Concerning how to design a unique city lighting, Mr. Zheng Jianwei and Mr. Rong Haolei showed their advise directly,on the other hand ,only when design units, construction units and product suppliers work together ,can the problem be solved.What’s more,Urumqi government said in the meeting that it would actively invite domestic top design and construction units to participate in urban lighting construction , hoping the excellent manufacturer at home and abroad can work together to solve the problem in product selection.
At that day,Liang Hongliu,head of Urban Lighting Management Division,Beijing Municipal Administration Commission,and Lan Liuhe,vice director of Guangzhou Lighting Construction and Administration Center were invited to deliver a speech. And in the interaction part,representatives from Beijing,Guangzhou,Suzhou, Wuxi,Xian,Changzhou, Xinjiang and other cities shared their views and opinions,discussing how to create a superior project from the perspective of design,project,implementation,maintenance and management.

The theme conference was hosted by Urumqi City Administration Committee also called Urumqi Municipal Bureau of City and Law Enforcement,co-organized by YGLS and GCEL,and supported by Tsinghua Tong Heng Urban Planning and Design Institute ，and BIAD(Beijing Institute of Architectural Design) Zheng Jian Wei Lighting Design Studio,Tsinghua Tong Fang Co.,Ltd.Beijing N&N Lighting Technology Co.,Ltd.,THuacai Electron Science & Technology Engineering Co.,Ltd,Cooper Electric (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd.,andAsian Lighting , which build a platform of communication for city lighting governor and promote the healthy development in the industry.
